Trace the roots of "Barbacoa" from Indigenous Taino techniques to Modern American BBQ with Julian Gooding.

Julian Barrett Gooding is a documentary filmmaker, food-ways historian and storyteller for more than 40 years. His work explores African gastronomy, Gullah Geechee, Indigenous, Caribbean, and European influences on Southern food-ways. He is a regular presenter at McLeod Plantation Historic Site, has contributed to programs for the International African American Museum, featured in Charleston Magazine and provided media support for Netflix’s High on the Hog.

Program starts at 7PM - Doors open at 6:30. There will be a social period with light refreshments prior to the program. Free to SINHG Members and $5 for guests.
